GoGA Mission

We strive to create a positive, dynamic, supportive, all-female environment where women are challenged to ride harder and farther. We emphasize a holistic approach towards riding: we want to facilitate your progression towards becoming a confident rider in terms of route, repair, and safety knowledge.

The specifications:

- Ride 20 to 30 miles in 2007, 25 to 35 miles in 2008

- Quick pace (we don't want to be out all night)

- You will feel most comfortable riding a road bike

- Although we always look out for each other, you are responsible for knowing your own limitations. If you are not comfortable with long distance, the mechanics of your bike, or the pace is too quick, speak up!!! We will try to accommodate you if you are willing to push yourself.

Tuesday, December 18th: Burrito Project

For one very special night, Burrito Project will be held on a Tuesday, and we shall be in attendance. As a reward to those that risked frozen digits and pneumonia to ride out to Pasadena and Altadena last Tuesday, we will help Todd and his crew roll toasty burritos in the warm comfort of his kitchen.

Bring a big bag, we aim to carry those burritos we make to distribute to the less fortunate on the streets.

The ride will, again, meet a little earlier to ensure that we can help roll burritos.

Meet at 7:30pm at Scoops.

The route from Scoops to Burrito Project can be found here. I, Tattiya, will not be at the Scoops meet up point, but that the place where burrito creation happens (end of the route). I don't know the address of the end point, but call me when you get to the corner of Pico and Westmoreland and I will come out and find you.

"Post" Ride Commentary: Burrito Project was done by car because it was pouring on and off, but accomplished it it's mission nonetheless. Hope everyone stayed dry!

Tuesday, December 11th: Pasadena Holiday Lights

Since we missed Signe last week, let's make this a little closer to her home - let's check out the Pasadena / Altadena Holiday Light Displays.

Here's a suggested route based on thePasadena Convention and Visitors Bureau website reference from 2006-2007.

It's pretty damn ambitious, about 45 miles, we're leaving a little earlier for this one. I think it's enough advance notice for people to commit and/or suggest shortcuts (or tell me I'm nuts).

Awaiting your thoughts...

Please note the NEW MEETING TIME for this ride: 7:00pm, ride out shortly after

Tuesday, December 4th: Ridiculous House Ride

You know you've seen them - bring the addresses and we'll create a route on the spot to make sure we hit the majority of them. I will have a digital camera with me.

For those who want to meet earlier for a little sustenance, I think an group would like to meet at Pure Luck for some grub. I'm talking to you Dana! How about Meeting at 7:00pm for eats, same time to ride out?

Post ride commentary:

Due to a flat tire, all of us didn't quite make it for a dinner before hand, but we did enjoy a scenic ride through Beverly Hills. Highlights were the Witches House, Bugsy Siegel's house, the underwater god's house, the horrendous architectural mansionization of BH, Black Santas at the David house, and Michelle's booklight turned bike light.

An approximation of the route - there were some twist and turns where we were not sure where we were going that might have added some distance - can be found here.

Sunday, December 2nd: Rancho Cucamonga Ride

Hosted by Ivana, this was about a 50 mile one-way trip from Union Station in LA to Ranch Cucamonga. We departed at 9am and feasted upon a lavish BBQ hosted, also, by Ivana. The train ride back was wonderfully appreciated as temperatures dipped.

Highlights:

- Ice cream in Claremont
- Accident-inducing kisses
- Low 60s and sunny
- Flat-ish terrain

Ivana, could you please post the route so that others that may want to ride the route on their own may do so? The directions from Union Station should suffice.

Big ups to Ivana and husband, Angel, Ryan and Carla, Mike from the Pride of the Foothills, Baby, and Jared!
