GoGA Mission

We strive to create a positive, dynamic, supportive, all-female environment where women are challenged to ride harder and farther. We emphasize a holistic approach towards riding: we want to facilitate your progression towards becoming a confident rider in terms of route, repair, and safety knowledge.

The specifications:

- Ride 20 to 30 miles in 2007, 25 to 35 miles in 2008

- Quick pace (we don't want to be out all night)

- You will feel most comfortable riding a road bike

- Although we always look out for each other, you are responsible for knowing your own limitations. If you are not comfortable with long distance, the mechanics of your bike, or the pace is too quick, speak up!!! We will try to accommodate you if you are willing to push yourself.

Tuesday, September 23rd: Eastside GoGA

Damn you, Cinefamily... I have to go to this:

Delicious Vinyl presents: L.A. Old-Skool, 1982-1989
Get ready to "set it off" Strafe-style with some rare footage from the Delicious Vinyl Vaults, giving you a tour of early hip-hop in Los Angeles. You'll catch ultra-rare footage of Ramellzee and graffiti artist Jean Michel Basquiat at the Rhythm Lounge on Melrose--a rare pocket in the advent of L.A. hip hop culture. Also, Soul Brother "Legendary" will present highlights from 1982-1989 (from the Freak Beat to the Golden Era), from his upcoming Suns of James Brown documentary, which features footage of Uncle Jam's Army, Jam City, Ultrawave, and underground dance crews including early moves from members of The Pharcyde. Next, Delicious Vinyl artists (Tone Loc, Young MC, Def Jef, and Body And Soul) appear in a 1988 Electronic Press Kit made for the label by director Tamra Davis. Plus music videos, a live dance performance by the Soul Brothers, DJ set by KDAY Grand Mixer M-Walk, and some other very special guests! To top it all off, Peanut Butter Wolf will be in the house to VJ a set of visuals to cap off the night.

It starts at 8pm, which means I won't be able to lead GoGA this night, but if anyone wants to join me buy a ticket and we can ride out the Silent Movie Theater. I need to hear from you, or else I'm rolling solo to the theater.

Please feel free to meet at 8:30pm at Scoops and if I can I will post a route for the normal GoGA ride.

Happy Tuesday!

East Side GoGA: Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

Ladies of Los Angeles,

My sincerest apologies for having fallen off the past month (or so). I've extremely pleased that the Westside GoGA is still up and running, and I heard rumors that the Eastside GoGA was still meeting as well.

Well, ladies - I'm back, albeit in terrible shape, but I'm back and I was want to kick off a new year of GoGA right - with drinks! No ride tonight, just a little bit of the electric relaxation.

Join me and familiar faces at Pure Luck on Tuesday - same GoGA time - for a brainstorming session that will include all of the following:

- creation of new routes
- food
- exploration of new themes
- BEER

Hope to see you there.
