GoGA Mission

We strive to create a positive, dynamic, supportive, all-female environment where women are challenged to ride harder and farther. We emphasize a holistic approach towards riding: we want to facilitate your progression towards becoming a confident rider in terms of route, repair, and safety knowledge.

The specifications:

- Ride 20 to 30 miles in 2007, 25 to 35 miles in 2008

- Quick pace (we don't want to be out all night)

- You will feel most comfortable riding a road bike

- Although we always look out for each other, you are responsible for knowing your own limitations. If you are not comfortable with long distance, the mechanics of your bike, or the pace is too quick, speak up!!! We will try to accommodate you if you are willing to push yourself.

Tuesday, April 15th: Griffith Observatory

Very small, but strong group of girls taking down Griffith Observatory. Many thanks go out the the bright moon that made Griffith Park a little less scary, the rock that turned out to be a big toad that entertained us for a while, coyotes that took the day off, and last, but definitely not least, Park Ranger Bleeker for giving us the royal GoGA treatment.

Original Post:

Anyone have a good route?

Potential Route

Bring more if you have them, we'll pick the best one!

Go up Mt. Hollywood on the backside. Bring lights, stay together. There are coyotes - the Griffith Park variety are not afraid of humans.

This will end up being a short, easy ride unless you want to make it challenging.

15-17 mph is a bit slow, by the way.

Dear Anonymous,

Thanks for the tip about Griffith Observatory - I know there are different ways of getting up there, hopefully we will be able to find a challenging medium.

Also, if the advertised MPH is the only thing that has been keeping you from coming to GoGA (unless you're a boy), I STRONGLY encourage you to come out and give us a try. Perhaps you can bring a speedometer to the next couple of Tuesdays, and we can average across everyone who has them to get an updated MPH if it will attract more potential GoGA girls.

Cheers!

i'm usually watching my spedometer, and when I'm tailing Tatiya, we're usually averaging 18mph.

i'll be there tonight.
